Man's cause of death: Uppercut from Batman

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- People reading through the obituaries in Florida might have done a double take when they came across one man's story, reports WFTS in Tampa Bay.

According 31-year-old Stephen Merrill's obit, on February 12, he died from an uppercut from Batman.

It wasn't a typo.

"He would have been honored to have died by an uppercut from Batman," his fiance, Stephanie Vella, told WFTS.

Merrill's death was sudden, his family says. At the time they were writing his obituary, friends and family still didn't have a cause of death.

Brandon Moxam, a close friend of Merrill's, says they were told they needed to have one, so he joked, "Say the cause of death was an 'uppercut from Batman.'"

Everyone in the room laughed, so they decided to leave it.
