TIJUANA, Mexico (KFSN) -- Criminals could be going high tech in their efforts to smuggle drugs over the US-Mexico border.

The Tijuana, Mexico police department posted photos on its Facebook page after officers found a crashed aerial drone within walking distance of the border. The drone was loaded with six packs of the synthetic drug known as crystal.

The drugs weighed almost seven pounds. It's believed the weight of the drugs is what caused the drone to crash.

The drone was identified as a silver "Spreading Wings S900" model that costs around $1,500. The brand is marketed as a "highly portable, powerful aerial system for the demanding filmmaker."
