Mom arrested after girl, 4, found alone in Central Fresno motel room

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police have arrested the mother of a small child after officers found the little girl alone in a Central Fresno motel room.

Investigators say a housekeeper found the 4-year-old girl and her dog inside one of the rooms at the Motel 6 at Blackstone and Ashlan avenues just after noon Tuesday. The child told the maid her mother was out.

"We checked the video. The mother provided a story that some relative was with the child, but no one at all has been in and out of that room since they left. And there are witnesses that saw them take off in the car at a certain time also, so she left the child alone," said Lt. Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department.

The mom has been identified as 20-year-old Nicole Ramsay. She and an unidentified man apparently crossed paths with police earlier in the morning before authorities discovered the unsupervised child. Authorities stopped a car Ramsay and her friend were riding in near Fashion Fair Mall for driving erratically. The driver was checked for DUI but released.
