A man who dresses as the superhero character Mr. Incredible was convicted of battery Tuesday in connection to a Hollywood Boulevard scuffle in which he punched and kicked a woman dressed as Batgirl.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Mr. Incredible, the man at the center of a Hollywood Boulevard scuffle involving costumed characters, was convicted of battery Tuesday.

The incident was caught on camera by FilmOn.com and uploaded to YouTube. Cameraman Brandon Howe said he was working on a project when the fight suddenly broke out in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre on Oct. 22.

Dressed as the character Mr. Incredible, 35-year-old Muhammet Bilik was seen punching, throwing and body-slamming a woman dressed as Batgirl.

A man dressed as Chewbacca eventually intervened.

"My animal brain kicked in. I had to protect the girl, so I just went in and did what I had to do," he said.

Along with the man dressed as Chewbacca, a man in a Waldo costume also said he helped break it up.

According to prosecutors, LAPD officers interviewed the victim on Nov. 7, after she had returned to Hollywood Boulevard. She identified Bilik as her assailant and confirmed what the video showed, prosecutors said.

On Tuesday, Bilik was sentenced to three years probation, one day of jail and anger management sessions. He was also ordered to say away from the Hollywood Entertainment District.

City Atty. Mike Feuer said in a statement that Bilik's conviction is part of an effort to crack down on violent incidents on Hollywood Boulevard.

"Hollywood Boulevard is famous around the globe and attracts millions of visitors every year. We must keep it safe," City Atty. Mike Feuer said in a statement. "The characters who interact with children and family along Hollywood Boulevard have to obey the law."
