A young man and woman are dead after a shooting at a large house party in Fresno County Friday night.

The flyer for the birthday party on Orange Avenue in Fresno County advertises a DJ, plenty of alcohol, and encourages everyone to spread the word by sharing the flyer on social media. "There was a flyer that was being passed around on social media and maybe that's how some people that weren't invited originally showed up to this place," said Fresno County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Joe Smith.

Smith says a disturbance broke out at the large party, shots were fired, and two people, a young man and woman died.

The coroner's office has not released their names yet.

A third person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The woman who lives on the property where the party took place didn't want to identify herself but says her granddaughter was at the party and was good friends with the woman who died. "It's just been total chaos, you know we've talked to so many investigators," she said.

She's rented the house for forty years and says she came back from the casino Friday night to find a crime scene.

It was a party that turned deadly. "A party and it popped, that's usually what happens when you have a party and you get too many mixed people," the woman said.

More than 100 people were at the party, and investigators say they ran in all directions when shots were fired. But they did get statements from some of them, many of them underage, some young adults.

Hours later, they're trying to sort through lots of evidence and put together a timeline in hopes of finding out who did this. The woman who lives here just hopes that happens soon. "I just feel sick and bad about this whole situation, that's about all I can say," she said.

This is the fourth double homicide in Fresno County so far this year.

Last year, Fresno County had a total of nine homicides.

The sheriff's office is asking the public, especially anyone who attended the party, to provide information. You can contact the Fresno County Sheriff's office at (559) 600-8206 or the dispatch center at (559) 600-3111.
