Patient heading to Visalia hospital dies after car crashes into ambulance
Paramedics and firefighters were performing CPR on an 84-year-old man inside the ambulance when a car crashed into it, causing the ambulance to topple over.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A patient on the way to the hospital is dead after the ambulance he was riding in was smashed by a car in Visalia Sunday.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. near Main and Conyer Streets. Visalia Police said Robert Zielske of Visalia hit an American Ambulance van with his car while it was heading toward the hospital.

Inside the van, paramedics and firefighters were performing CPR on 84-year-old Robert Howard. The crash caused the ambulance to overturn and everyone inside was slightly hurt.

Howard was later taken to the hospital by another ambulance where he died. It's unclear if Zielske will face any charges and who is at fault in the crash.
