2014 crop report: Tulare County remains nation's top Ag producer

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Tulare County remains the nation's top Ag producer. The county's Ag commissioner Marilyn Kinoshita issued the 2014 crop report on Tuesday.

The report shows the total value of all Ag products in Tulare County last year was just over $8 billion. That's an increase of 10 percent over the previous year.

The top commodities were dairy and citrus. Dairy brought in more than $2.5 billion, and citrus more than $962 million.

Kinoshita pointed out county farmers were able to hit a record high in crop values despite the drought.

Fresno and Kern counties are expected to release their 2014 crop reports in the coming weeks.
