FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Southeast Fresno tow company is assessing the damage after a suspicious fire destroyed several vehicles early this morning.

Fresno Firefighters were called to Sierra Towing near Backer and Thomas after 4 a.m. Thursday. At least eight vehicles were damaged in the fire, including a motor home.

Investigators say the fire is suspicious because a hole was cut in a fence. The towing company's manager says he believes the suspect was looking for fuel.

"It looks like they cut the fence. They were probably stealing fuel -- cutting the gas tanks and draining the gas out of them. Which makes sense as far as how they started the fire. And what's scary is one of the old motor homes -- we think someone was sneaking into that," said Brandon Herring, Sierra Towing Manager.

Investigators do not have a suspect at this time. Sierra Towing has insurance, but they are not sure if it will cover the cost of the lost vehicles.
