Shooting outside Northeast Fresno restaurant leaves security guard in critical condition
The shooting happened in the parking lot of Mariscos Costa Azul near Shaw and Sixth Avenues around 7 p.m.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A security guard was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times outside a Northeast Fresno restaurant Saturday night, according to police.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of Mariscos Costa Azul near Shaw and Sixth Avenues around 7 p.m. Police say the unarmed guard saw a man acting suspiciously and asked him to leave.

After an argument between the man and the guard, the suspect pulled out a gun and began firing. The 29-year-old guard was shot several times in the upper body.

The guard's identity has not been released.

Police say the suspect fled, and they describe him as being 20 to 25 years old, thin and wearing dark clothing.
