Shots fired! Fresno Police install gunshot detectors

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Soon the mystery of where shots are coming from and response time to catch the shooter, or save lives, should get better.

Lots of gun shots were fired off Monday night by officers as they wrapped up the calibration of shot spotter. It's a series of sensors designed to pinpoint a shooting location and alert officers even before someone calls 911.

The microphones for Shot Spotter are installed on buildings and light poles. The creator of Shot Spotter says it can tell the difference between gunfire and things like fireworks.
