Skateboarder dead after being hit by truck in East Central Fresno
Fresno police are investigating a traffic accident that left a skateboarder dead.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating a traffic accident that left a skateboarder dead. It happened around 10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Dakota and Chestnut avenues in East Central Fresno.

Investigators say a truck was going eastbound on Dakota, when the skateboarder came off the sidewalk against a traffic light and into the path of the vehicle. They say the driver did what they could but could not avoid hitting the victim. The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to police.

The skateboarder was dragged about 50 yards. The victim's name has not been released, but police say he was 27 years old.
