FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are looking for the driver who crashed a stolen car into an apartment building in East Central Fresno. The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday at the apartments on Sierra Vista and McKinley avenues.

Fresno police say they had tried to pull over the stolen vehicle earlier in the night, but the driver took off. A chase broke out, but authorities called it off for safety reasons.

Police say moments later, officers were driving by when they saw the same stolen vehicle had crashed into the apartment building. The driver wasn't there, but they believe he may have been involved in other crimes.

"The vehicle is a reported stolen vehicle, and there appears to be a lot of items inside the car that may be associated with several burglaries," said Sgt. Mike Smith with the Fresno Police Department.

The building suffered some damage, but no injuries were reported. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Fresno police.
