BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man suspected of shooting a Bakersfield baby in the head, while he was still in his mother's womb, has been arrested.

Deputies in Imperial County caught up with Anthony Sanchez, 24, on Friday night. They say he was driving down the highway in the town of Brawley, likely headed to Mexico. Sanchez is currently awaiting extradition to Kern County.

That's where investigators say an 8 1/2-month pregnant woman was standing in the front yard of her Bakersfield home last Tuesday. Three men confronted her and her husband. A gunshot to the woman's lower hip struck her unborn son, grazing his head, and forcing doctors to deliver the baby.

Kern County sheriff's deputies say the infant is currently being cared for at Valley Children's Hospital in Madera. The mother and father were also hospitalized for gunshot wounds.

Deputies are still searching for two other suspects -- Anthony Rios, 22, and James Rios, 21.
