FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News has learned police investigated a man they arrested for a gun store theft in connection with a deadly robbery that took place at the same store five days later.

Police released surveillance video of a suspect from a Nov. 29 theft at Fresno Firearms.

Five days later, two men were involved in a robbery at the store and as they left, one man knocked 85-year-old George Sheklian to the ground as he was bringing coffee to the gun store owner. He died days later.

Jesus Sanchez, 23, now faces felony charges for the first case, but he's out of jail on a $16,000 bail.

Action News uncovered a search warrant in which detectives say they thought the two crimes may be related. Investigators say a call came from Sanchez's house to Sheklian's shoe store within an hour of the robbery, and store owners suspected he was casing the strip center. But police told us Thursday afternoon that after hundreds of hours of investigation, they no longer believe the two crimes are related.
