Suspect wanted in Tarpey Village assault and shooting identified
Fresno County sheriff's deputies have identified a man they say knocked his ex-girlfriend unconscious and then allegedly shot a Good Samaritan.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County sheriff's deputies have identified a man they say knocked his ex-girlfriend unconscious and then allegedly shot a Good Samaritan.

Authorities say Eli Guiba, 21, punched and kicked his 19-year-old former girlfriend last week after an argument near Ashlan and Clovis avenues in Tarpey Village.

A man living in a truck behind the liquor store where it happened saw the attack and thought the woman was going to die, so he pepper-sprayed the suspect. It's believed Guiba came back later with a gun and shot the Good Samaritan in the arm.

Both the man and woman are expected to make full recoveries.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Guiba is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff's Office at (559) 600-3111.
