FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A teenager was stabbed in Fresno County this morning by her boyfriend.

The sheriff's department said an argument began at a home near Saginaw and Minnewawa. It ended with a 19-year-old man stabbing his 18-year-old girlfriend in the neck.

The suspect is identified as Andrew Garcia of Fresno. He took off running, leading authorities on an active search.

An hour into it, deputies learned Garcia showed up at Clovis Community Hospital.

"He actually had a self-inflicted stab wound to himself so he is currently there being treated, and based on what comes out of this investigation he could face felony charges," said Tony Botti, Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

The woman who was stabbed in the neck was initially driven to the hospital by a family member. That family member ended up pulling over on the side road and called 911 after realizing the injury was very serious.

No word yet on the condition of the victim
