Toddler in critical condition after being bitten by snake during hike with parents in SoCal

MURRIETA, Calif. -- A toddler who was hiking with his parents in an unincorporated area of Murrieta was bitten by a snake Saturday.

CAL Fire and Riverside County Firefighters responded to the medical emergency around 11 a.m. The boy was transported by an ambulance and then transferred to a helicopter.

He was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

The type of snake was not confirmed, but the family reported it was a rattlesnake.
