Two injured in Planada gang shootout, authorities say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation continues into a possible drive by and gang shootout in Merced County.

The shooting happened in the area of Carson near Biglar in Planada around 9 p.m. on Sunday.

A man was found with a gunshot wound and told deputies a car drove by and shot at him, then crashed into a home down the street. That's where deputies found another man with a gunshot wound.

Both victims were taken to a Modesto hospital. The first victim is expected to recover, the other is in serious condition.

Police said both men are known rival gang members. Witnesses told police both men exchanged gunfire in the incident.
