Victim remembers repeat criminal involved in River Park robbery

FRESNO, Calif (KFSN) -- Police are still looking for the Valley man accused of trying to rob a former law enforcement officer and burglarizing a Parlier jewelry store Friday morning.

After smashing through the front entrance with a four-door sedan, surveillance video shows a man and a woman stealing items from Parlier's Joyeria Herrera early Friday morning. The thieves are believed to be Bonnie-Sue Sevier and Jeremy Lynd, who police say tried to rob a man at a bank ATM in River Park hours later.

Police say Lynd stunned the man with a stun gun. But the robbery victim, a former police officer and concealed-carry permit holder, fought back by getting his gun and firing at the two as they tried to run him over with their stolen car.

It's a car authorities say Lynd stole in the Sacramento area on New Year's Day. Lynd is also wanted for an armed robbery in Turlock a few days later. Seeing Lynd's mugshot on Facebook hit a nerve for James Giles.

As a family friend, Giles says he watched Lynd grow up in Modesto. And in 2001, while relocating to Fresno, Giles let Lynd's sister watch their house for a couple of days. But during that time, Giles says Jeremy Lynd got inside and stole precious items like jewelry and a stereo. They pressed charges, and forgot about Lynd, until Friday. "Looking at it now, and seeing what I saw today and everything it was just baffling that it went so far," Giles said.

Giles feels for Lynd's mother and is worried about any others who stand in Lynd's way while he's on the run.

Lynd is considered armed and dangerous.

"I don't know what he's going to do to get any further away," Giles said. "I don't know who's going to get hurt, who's going to get killed." Giles doesn't have any kind words for Lynd, but he wants him to think about what he's doing and who he's hurting on this crime spree.

If caught, Lynd faces the same charges as Bobbie-Sue Sevier, including attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and carjacking. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Fresno Police.
