Vigil held for teens killed in violent party

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Candles and flowers circled pictures of two teens killed Friday night in a shooting.

Outside Easton Presbyterian Church Sunday were family and friends of 17-year-old William Harris and 19-year-old Kayla DeBorde, shedding tears for their loved ones and

grieving their loss together.

Kevin Harris, William's father, says going home is not going to be easy now. "There's no one there, his room's empty," Harris said. "I'm going to miss him, his laugh. I'm going to miss playing video games with him."

Briona Jones is doing the same thing. She was friends with DeBorde since age nine. "She was the type of the friend that would always be there like no matter what no matter how long you hadn't talked to her she was there," Jones said.

Now she is attending a prayer vigil, paying her last respects for a friend she says should still be here. "It's ridiculous, nobody should be even playing with guns, like why would you have a gun at a party anyways, it just makes no sense to me," Jones said.

And it was a senseless crime for Harris as well, and he has a message for the person responsible for cutting two young lives short. "You know who you are, I forgive you," he said. "But you left a massive hole in two family's hearts."

A GoFundMe page was set up by the Harris family for funeral expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/8wmdp2vd

The sheriff's office is asking the public, especially anyone who attended the party, to provide information. You can contact the Fresno County Sheriff's office at (559) 600-8206 or the dispatch center at (559) 600-3111.
