Visalia man convicted of child molestation sentenced to 242 years to life

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- According to the Tulare County Superior Court, a Visalia man was sentenced to 242 years to life for several felony counts of child molestation.

On May 2nd a jury found Michael Ornelas, 42, guilty of seven counts of sexual intercourse with a minor ten years old or younger, three counts of oral copulation with a minor ten years old or younger, three counts of lewd acts on a child, and one count of forcible lewd acts on a child under fourteen. Each count is a felony.

All of the crimes occurred between March 15th, 2011 and January 3, 2015, against a Tulare County girl between the ages of seven and ten-years-old.

In addition to the sentencing, Orneals will have to register as a sex offender for life.
