CASA DE ORO, Calif. -- Authorities say a secretary with the San Diego County district attorney's office has been found dead along with her granddaughter in a suburban home.
The decaying bodies of 56-year-old Marshelle Newby and the 16-year-old girl were found Wednesday morning on a bed in a home in Casa de Oro, east of San Diego. Authorities say they appear to have been dead for a week.
Sheriff's investigators say there's no word on what caused the deaths but there were no signs of a break-in or struggle.
A note was found nearby but authorities didn't reveal its contents.
The DA's office says Newby was a criminal legal secretary with the Gangs Division and had worked for the DA's office for 23 years.
