Woman hit by car in Northwest Fresno

FRESNO, California -- An investigation is underway after a woman was hit by a car just down the street from a northwest Fresno school.

The accident happened this morning at around 8:30 at Gettysburg and Polk about a block from Teague Elementary. Officials say a woman was hit by an SUV while walking in a crosswalk. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
