High-demand for therapy dogs in Central Valley

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Therapy Dogs International receives requests every day from hospitals, high schools, and the court system to help people battle stress and pain.

Here in Fresno, the chapter currently has fifty members, but they say it's getting more difficult to reach those who need them the most as awareness grows.

Group leaders say any dog can be a therapy dog but will have to go through numerous tests to be certified. Most importantly, the chapter says you need a dog who is friendly and wants to be around people.
