FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A mother duck got some help from friends Saturday after her tiny ducklings fell through the grids of a storm drain.

Fresno Firefighters got a call about the frantic mother running around and stopping traffic near Bullard High School. They say about 11 ducklings fell into the drain.

Firefighters were able to lift the cover and get all of them out safely which is what firefighters say is the best part of their job.

"It is pretty cool to save a life no matter what it is," Cory Kalanick with the Fresno Fire Department said. "So, we definitely do our job with that in mind."

And after the rescue was all said and done, the mother duck and her babies were released far away from traffic.
