FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A pit bull puppy found dumped on the side of a Madera County road has now been released from the hospital and is finishing his road to recovery at a foster home.

Gideon is the only survivor from his litter of six. The Fresno Bully Rescue says he's now starting to play and explore, and getting stronger every day. Gideon was found on Monday severely malnourished and dehydrated with just a 50 percent chance of survival.

Investigators are still trying to find the person who abandoned the litter.
