Valley Animal Center kicks off Pennies for Pets fundraiser in Fresno
Valley Animal Center is asking for your help to support its no-kill shelter.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Valley Animal Center is asking for your help to support its no-kill shelter. Volunteers and organizers kicked off the annual Pennies for Pets fundraiser in Northeast Fresno on Saturday. They were out collecting coins and other donations at two locations on Shaw Avenue.

The goal this year is to raise $100,000 -- thanks in part to matching donations of up to $42,500. If you missed Saturday's event, it's not too late to help.

"They can make a check or cash donation at any Citibank location into the Valley Animal Center account, or bring their loose change down to the Valley Animal Center," community relations coordinator Nina Tonnu said.

Pennies for Pets runs through March 28.

Valley Animal Center relies completely on community support, and staff members say fundraisers like this one help them take care of animals while they're waiting to be adopted.
