Police investigating armed robbery at bank in downtown Fresno
The "Bank of the West" on Fresno Street and Van Ness Avenue was robbed.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at the "Bank of the West" on Fresno Street and Van Ness Avenue in downtown Fresno on Wednesday afternoon.

Fresno Police said the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding cash and said he was armed. When the teller removed cash from the register and placed it on the counter, he grabbed the money and fled on foot.

"I heard this commotion, I just heard footsteps..saw him sprinting towards the door," said Joe Nunez, a witness.

No one was injured during the bank robbery and a weapon was never seen by witnesses.

The suspect was described as a white man in his fifties or sixties and about 5'10" in height, wearing a white hooded sweater and a gray long-sleeved T-shirt underneath. He was also wearing gray or light denim pants and black shoes.

He is considered armed and dangerous.
