FRESNO, Calif. -- Some Valley veterans are getting ready to go on the flight of a lifetime.
The former Castle Air Force Base roared back to life when 75 World War II and Korean War veterans departed to see their memorial in Washington D.C.
Veterans enjoyed a momentous send-off on Monday and look forward to an even larger welcome home celebration on Wednesday. Veterans will experience the three-day trip free, with expenses covered by Central Valley Honor Flight - a nonprofit organization that raises $1,500 per veteran to cover transportation, lodging and meals.
This is the eighth flight for Central Valley Honor Flight and the second to depart from Castle Airport. null
