CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- It's an annual tradition that draws people from all over the Central Valley to Old Town Clovis. At Big Hat Days, you can expect a lot of people and a lot of hats.

"I've seen huge, huge hats. You've got to see it," said John Garza of Fresno.

"It's Big Hat Days so I think I need to buy a hat. And yeah, I think I'm getting a little red. I think I need a hat," said Shawn McDuffee of Fresno.

From cowboy hats to something a little bit fancier, people took cover from the wind that picked up in the evening and the endless rays of sunshine. Sections of the festival did get a bit congested, but it's a welcome sign of good business for one Clovis neighbor.

"It looks a little bit busier this year maybe because it's not as hot as it normally is; it can be hot on this day. But it's nice to have a crowd out. Clovis sure could use the people out here," said Philip Ciapponi of Fresno.

The Clovis Chamber of Commerce is expecting 140,000 people to show up for this weekend's festival.
