Donation helps local organization continue breaking barriers for valley vets
On Veterans Day, a big financial boost came to a local organization keeping valley veterans active and competitive.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- On Veterans Day, a big financial boost came to a local organization keeping valley veterans active and competitive.

On Wednesday, Save Mart donated $15,000 to Break The Barriers, specifically to help their growing veterans program. Over the past few years, with help from coaches at the facility, dozens of service members have learned new sports and have been able to compete at events around the country. In most cases, our Valley heroes have won big. Some have taken home gold medals in archery, Running, swimming, and weightlifting.

Wednesday's gift will help pay for the costs associated with training and competing-- and it is one our local heroes are thankful for. "Since the veterans have gone out and given their all for the country, it's wonderful when a company decides to step in and give back to the veterans. I think that is great," said Larry Green, Army veteran.

Break The Barriers' veterans program has been around for the past few years and each year it expands.

It's free for all veterans to join.
