Dozens of customers and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the life of a well-known Fresno shoe repairman

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of customers and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the life of a well-known Fresno shoe repairman Friday night who was murdered one year ago.

George Sheklian was in the shoe repair business for 52 years. He loved repairing shoes, but he also loved his customers.

Last year the 85-year-old was delivering coffee to the owners of a neighboring gun store when two armed men ran out, knocked Sheklian to the ground, killing him. Sheklian's wife, Mabel Sheklian, said she wants to remember how her husband lived rather than how he died. "Even when he had a stroke five years ago, the doctor said you cannot go back to work, you cannot go back to work, you need to go to therapy. He says you need to take me to the store, I need to smell sit there and smell the shoes-- smell my people,

Fresno police believe they know who is responsible for the gun store robbery and the murder of Sheklian. They're waiting for a witness to come forward to prosecute the case successfully.

There is a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and prosecution.
