Fire station in Kings County can now make some much needed improvements after donation
Wednesday Morning the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation presented a nearly $67,000 check to the Kings County Fire Department's Burris Park Station near Kingsburg.

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KFSN) -- Wednesday Morning the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation presented a nearly $67,000 check to the Kings County Fire Department's Burris Park Station near Kingsburg.

Larry Hillblom is the co-founder of DHL-- the worldwide courier company. He grew up in Kingsburg. A foundation started after he died in the mid 1990's.

The foundation supports medical research, as well as community improvements in Kings County.

This donation will allow the Burris Park Station to buy new jaws of life equipment.

"So what this means is that for people who travel through this rural area south of the city of Kingsburg, if they have traffic accidents here, our people will be able to get started on the work that's necessary to disentangle them from the cars much sooner," said Rick Smith, Kings County Fire Department.

The money will also go towards new garage doors, signage, and energy efficient lighting.
