First Drag Queen Story Hour held in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Children attended the first-ever Drag Queen Story Hour in Fresno on Saturday.

The drag queens read story books for children - talking and laughing with them during the hour. The event was put on by My LGBT+ who hopes the event will help to familiarize kids with different cultures and communities.

"We want to reap the benefits of what our drag culture has for our LGBT+ community and the kids are loving it today," found Justin Kamimoto said. "Drag queens take our story books, and they turn it into a whole little mini-series for our kids."

My LGBT+ hopes that this event will give children new role models to look up to.

Because of the large turnout, the organization says they plan to move to a bigger space at the end of next year.
