Fresno celebration marks completion of community projects

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of local churches are coming together to make a positive impact in the community.

A celebration at the Fresno Fairgrounds on Sunday marked the end of a weeklong effort called Serve Fresno. Organizers say more than 40 churches took part in about 130 community projects. They worked with partners such as the Poverello House and Fresno Rescue Mission to touch the lives of more than 9,000 people.

"We're coming here to celebrate that this is what the faith community in our city ought to be about and serving our city and celebrating together as a diverse community," said Pastor Brad Bell with the Well Community Church.

Sunday's celebration included musical performances and a variety of free food representing a number of different cultures.
