FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Veteran David Aguilar was given the French Legion of Honor for his service in World War II.
Aguilar, and ten others, were awarded with France's highest honor at a special ceremony in San Francisco. One by one, the French Consul General Pauline Carmona pinned the medals on the men. She said without their service, the people of France would not be free today.
Aguilar joined the U.S. Army in March of 1943 at the age of 20 and fought in the battle of the bulge. The U.S. military has awarded him the Good Conduct medal, the AT Service medal and the Bronze Star -- among others.
