FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A first-of-its-kind summit is empowering women in the Central Valley.

The Fresno Women's Summit brought together local women to cultivate relationships and learn about a variety of professions. Guest speakers spoke about social media, health and wellness and small business ownership.

The industry leaders also shared their experiences and tips for success. Two local Youtube stars and bloggers say they organized the summit to inspire women.

"We often go to events out of town for blogging and Youtube and there's nothing like what we've been to here in town," Fresno Women's Summit Committee president Amanda Allison Valdez said. "So, we thought, 'Why not create something really special here in the Central Valley for women who need encouragement and empowerment and inspiration.'"

Three members of the ABC30 news team were contributors to the panels, including executive producer Aurora Diaz, producer Christine Brown and technical assistant Nathaly Juarez.

All proceeds benefited the Spirit of Woman organization, a local group that helps women and children affected by substance abuse.
