Latino Life: Guelaguetza Festival celebrates indigenous Mexicans

California is home to more than two hundred thousand indigenous mexicans. Most people think all speak Spanish but some do not. They are commonly from the state of Oaxaca in Mexico and can speak different dialects.

Oaxaca is the historic home of the Zapotec and Mixtec peoples among others and contains more speakers of indigenous languages than any other Mexican state.

Irma Luna with CBDIO or Centro Binacional Para El Desarollo Indigena Oaxaqueño sat down with Latino Life host, Graciela Moreno to talk about CBDIO's mission and its upcoming Guelaguetza. The festival is Sunday, September 24th at Calwa Park. (559) 498-1178 www.centrobinacional.org
