Firefighter answering call to help man with ring on finger gets surprised with marriage proposal

Jodi Vincent, a firefighter in Birmingham, England, said she thought it was strange when she was called in to help a man with a ring stuck on his finger. Little did she know that it was all a ruse so her boyfriend could propose.

"I thought it was unusual to be sent out to this but you never know what you can get called out to as a firefighter," Vincent said, according to the station.

Vincent and a few of her colleagues -- who were in on the surprise -- responded to the call at the city's Grand Central shopping center. When they arrived, Vincent was greeted by her boyfriend, Mark. He got down on one knee.

"I was completely unaware that I was going to be proposed to today," Vincent later reflected. "It was a complete surprise to see Mark standing there waiting for me."

Vincent said yes and added that she "couldn't be happier." She joked that all of her coworkers owe her after keeping her in the dark about such a big surprise.

"They managed to keep it a complete secret - they all owe me a drink at the wedding!"
