Runners hit the treadmill to help the Poverello House deliver shoes to the homeless
Every year leaders at the Poverello House said their request for shoes is more than they can meet. The non-profit hoped to reach their goal of 200 miles, so Sole 2 Soul Sports will donate 200 pairs of shoes.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Supporters of the Poverello House are running to help others walk.

The local homeless center invited the public to run or walk one mile on a treadmill Sunday in exchange for a donation of a pair of shoes by Sole 2 Soul Sports.

Every year leaders at the Poverello House said their request for shoes is more than they can meet. The non-profit hoped to reach their goal of 200 miles, so Sole 2 Soul Sports will donate 200 pairs of shoes.

"Especially with winter coming, people are in need of a pair of shoes," Stephanie Negin with the Poverello House explained. "So, it's a way for them to get a good pair of shoes, keep them warm and keep their feet healthy."

The Poverello House is based in Downtown Fresno and has served the homeless since 1973.
