Trucking company steps up to help two Clovis Unified bus drivers deliver goods to Texas

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Weeks after Hurricane Harvey tore through Texas and Louisiana, the Central Valley is still showing support for the victims.

For two weeks, Clovis Unified School District bus drivers have been collecting donations for Hurricane Harvey victims.

"We got socks, diapers, wipes, clothing," Miss Cathy said. "Just everything you could imagine we got."

And they've been able to round up enough things to fill up not only this school bus but a box truck as well.

"Myself and Clarinda were going to be able to drive it back. New Caney is where we are going," Miss Cathy said.

However, because of the outpouring of support, there was one big problem.

"We needed help with transportation because it just does not fit in our box truck," he said.

After days of searching, Madera company Talley came to their rescue - donating a truck to pull a 48-foot long trailer to Texas.

"They are providing a driver the truck the trailer and the fuel, so we have more than a busload of stuff going to Houston," Miss Cathy said.

Across town in northwest Fresno, Pinot's Palette held its own fundraiser.

Where more than 60 people showed up to Paint for Harvey. The owner said the sold-out house creating art for a good cause raised more than $2,400 in just one night.

"I'm really proud," Stacy Gould said. "I'm excited, and I was really excited to share all that in the beginning of class because I was expressing how appreciative I am to be giving. United we can do something."
