Centro La Familia Advocacy Services is helping victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

The organization's Victim Assistance Program gives them access to safety, shelter, employment and food, along with obtaining residency or another immigration status.

Since its inception, the number of cases managed by VAP has increased from 200 cases annually to 550 new cases in 2015, representing a growing need.

Victims of serious these crimes need support and encouragement but often have nowhere to turn for help. Crimes often go unreported because of fear or stigma.

According to Centro La Familia, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between 15-44yrs of age in the United States.

Globally, more than 70% of trafficking victims are women, more than half are children. It is estimated that less than 30% of sexual assault victims report their abuse.

Centro la Familia Advocacy Services implements a multi-faceted, multi-lingual approach, a result of the partnerships and knowledge acquired with over 40 years of service.

Access is facilitated by taking into consideration the client's cultural values and needs, addressing barriers such as transportation, availability and language needs

Centro La Familia is hosting A Community Convening: Conversations Not Heard.

It will bring together a network of agencies, law enforcement, officials, and individuals committed to shedding light on the crimes of human trafficking and domestic violence in our community.

The goal is to provide attendees with the tools on how to identify and serve victims/survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, through a collection of professional and cultural perspectives.

The training for professionals is June 21st, 2017, 9:00 am -2:00 pm the Falls Event Center in Fresno.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of these crimes, contact Centro La Familia Advocacy Services at (559) 237- 2961 or visit CLFA offices at 302 Fresno Street, Suite 102, Fresno, CA
