Valley veterans spend day volunteering across Fresno
This Veteran's Day weekend, 10 local vets volunteered their time to help a low-income family get solar powered technology.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of veterans did what they do best Saturday in honor of their holiday by helping others.

Grid Alternatives is a non-profit organization that leads teams of volunteers to install the solar panels. This Veteran's Day weekend, 10 local vets volunteered their time to help a low-income family get solar powered technology.

"It takes a lot of courage to even enlist in the National Guard," Cynthia Luevanos with the Army National Guard said. "We're like the one percent that is in the military or any kind of armed service, so I think we don't mind sacrificing our time."

More than 7,500 families have benefitted from the program and 30,000 people have been trained in solar installation.
