VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A young Visalia man who inspired many has lost his battle with cancer. Alex Fernandez, 20, died Friday morning surrounded by friends and family.

Alex Fernandez

Alex stopped all cancer treatments to focus on a list of things to do before he passed away. Visiting a 49ers game was on that list. Recently, player Quinton Dial gave him the next best thing. He and his nonprofit QD's Kids sent Alex a package full of 49ers swag. Dial says he's dedicating his first game of the 2015 season to Alex for making a difference in the lives of others.

Alex had been working to set up a concert in Lindsay to raise money for people like him who are too old for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That concert is Wednesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. at the McDermont Field House. Tickets are $20.
