Visalia non-profit honors vet with home exterior makeover
For the fifth year in a row, Visalia-based non-profit Paint it Forward honored another veteran with a home exterior makeover.

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- For the fifth year in a row, Visalia-based non-profit Paint it Forward honored another veteran with a home exterior makeover.

This year's recipient was David Beam, an Army National Guard veteran who lives in Visalia. Beam's house received a fresh coat of paint, they finished the landscaping project he started and replaced his screen doors. Beam said he was shocked to be chosen for this year's makeover.

The non-profit received 50 applications and a seven member board chose Beam based on his years of service in the military and the service he gave after leaving the military. "I try to help other people," said Beam. "I think that when you do that I think it will come back to you and if you do it the right way, then surely it will come back."

Paint it Forward hopes to receive more donations so they can do two makeovers every year-- once on Memorial Day and one on Veterans Day.
