Avenal's Ramirez has message to fans from China

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The pride of Avenal, Jose Ramirez is fighting this weekend, but it's not the friendly confines of Selland Arena. It's not even the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The NABF champion is preparing to box in China.

Cell phone video shows the 2012 Olympian during a portion of his workout routine in Macau. That's the city where the fight will take place. It's called the "Victory at the Venetian" and the Valley native is co-headlining the event.

Ramirez improved to a perfect 14-0 in front of a hometown crowd back in May. And with Bob Arum in attendance, the victory catapulted him to contender status. This will be Ramirez's first fight outside of the United States, but he's spent time abroad. He trained with Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines to help the Pac Man train for the Mayweather fight.

"Hey, what's up everyone. It's me Jose, all the way from Macau, China. Just getting ready for my fight this Saturday, I want to go and represent the Central Valley like I should. Take home the win, I just want to thank everyone for their support back home and I miss you guys. Thanks so much, it's an honor to be over here and it's a good experience. It's been nice and I've having a good time with the team." said Ramirez.
