San Francisco Giants pitcher Luis Madero tested positive for the coronavirus, manager Gabe Kapler said Friday.
Kapler said Madero was the only Giants player in the 60-man pool to test positive at this point, but that some players are still awaiting results.
Madero, a right-handed starter, was claimed by the Giants on waivers from the Los Angeles Angels in January. In 24 appearances in the minors last season, he compiled a 5.03 ERA and 1.54 WHIP.
Kapler said Madero had given the club permission to announce the positive test.
