FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Edison High's Bruce Bowen had quite the career in the NBA. But there is a side of the valley basketball star you may not have seen or heard before.
"You know, in life, there are other things you can do, possibly," said Bowen.
A 13-year NBA veteran with 3 championships to his name, Bowen has expanded his horizons after his career working as a TV analyst for ESPN and even ESPN Deportes.
"I think it was maybe 4 years ago... it's kind of like the Sports Nation in Spanish, but much livelier, so you have to pay attention," said Bowen. "I've been fortunate enough to be an ambassador for the NBA as well. So when I'm in Spain, I'm reading certain deals for the NBA in Spanish so it is beneficial when you are able to speak a second language."
Bowen used his bilingual skills to his benefit on the court and is relaying the message of education and exploration to the valley's youth.
"I'm able to go all over the world and experience things that I never would had the opportunity to do it not started right here," he said. "So, that's part of my mission with these kids because I want you to get out and see different things because you never know what's going to happen from the beginning of time right now."
It's a life lesson that's nothing but net.
