Good Sports: Team in Training
A team of runners are raising cancer awareness with every step they take.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of runners gather on a late summer evening in Northeast Fresno. But there is much more than meets the eye, amidst the stretching, jogging and laughs a group of determined athletes are fighting for a cause. The runners are a part of Team in Training, an endurance sports training program raising money for blood cancer research.

"Leukemia & Lymphoma society has been instrumental in developing new treatments for patients and getting clinical trials out to patients that really need them," said Lisa Ann Tadich who is running to raise $100,000 to fund a grant in her sister Mackenzie's name.

"This year I've organized a team in her memory called Team Mack Attack and so really I wanted to be a part of a cause that was just bigger than life," Tadich added.

Jayne Jaime is also for running, her husband Mory is a cancer survivor, "I'm out here running for my husband Mory, my champion. We just keep on pushing on and give encouragement and just giving encouragement and hope to other people."

Mory added, "A normal person's bad day is cancer survivor's good day. So that being said don't take things for granted anymore and I just thank the lord for another chance to go forward."

With every step, this team runs with a goal that's never out of sight, "I real think that running half marathons, marathons, participating in triathlons, it really is a test of your will and it is very painful someday and days that you don't want to do it and it is a constant reminder of those patients that don't have a choice. It's something we can chose to do to fight for them and when they're not able to cross that finish line, we're able to cross that finish line for them," said Tadich.
