FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- A U.S. Olympian and Valley native did not disappoint Saturday night as he entered the boxing ring to defend his title and bring attention to the drought.

Avenal Native Jose Ramirez gave quite a show for the sold out crowd. He knocked out his opponent, Robert Frankel, in the fifth round. Frankel hasn't been knocked out since 2008, until tonight!

The main point of this event wasn't just for boxing but to raise awareness about the drought that's crippling communities in California.

Danny Valdivia is another local fighter from Tulare who also won his match up.

"It feels great," said Valdivia. "I'm not happy with the win but I got it so it feels good."

The nationally televised event even brought leaders from Sacramento to support the cause.

This is the fourth year in a row Ramirez has stood up in the fight for water. Many fans say they hope to see him next year.
